The Blakemore Foundation was founded by the Blakemore Family and currently represents 1% of the pre-tax profits of A.F Blakemore & Son Ltd. The fund was established to provide small grants to local good causes and charities across the company’s trading area.
There are a number of donation types that the Blakemore Foundation offers and these include:
- Match Funding
- Standard Grants (usually these do not exceed £300)
- In Kind donations from A.F. Blakemore depots and stores
- Larger Grants
Match Funding:
Match funding donations are aimed at supporting A.F. Blakemore employees and usually do not exceed £300. Match Funding donations are usually given to those who have carried out a fundraising activity or a sponsored event.
To apply for a match funding donation please complete a Match Funding Application Form and return it to the Blakemore Foundation. Please allow for up to four-weeks before match funding applications are processed.
Standard Grants:
Standard Grants up to the value of £300 are awarded to local community-based organisations and charities with priority given to groups supported by our staff or customers. To apply for a donation please complete an application form and return it to the Blakemore Foundation. Please allow up to four-weeks for applications to be processed.
In Kind Donations:
Donations of this kind are typically in the form of food and drink from Blakemore outlets (usually from one of our Blakemore Wholesale depots and occasionally from our Tates SPAR stores). In Kind donations are generally used for raffle prizes or refreshments at community events. To apply for a donation please complete the In Kind Donations Application Form and return it to the Blakemore Foundation. Please allow for up to two-weeks for applications to be processed.
Larger Grant Donations:
Larger Grant donations are presented to the Blakemore Foundation Board of Trustees who consider each application on an individual basis. This process can vary in time depending on the size of the donation, so please allow six months for applications to be approved. To apply for a larger grant donation please complete the Larger Grant Application Form giving sufficient additional information to allow the Board of Trustees to examine and discuss the request to the full extent.
The Blakemore Foundation does not donate to:
- National charities (unless there is a direct relation with A.F Blakemore).
- Those looking for funding for Further Education.
- Charities outside the local trading areas of A.F Blakemore and Tate’s SPAR Stores.
- Those looking for match funding if they are not employees of A.F Blakemore & Son Ltd.
- Individual people (All donations must be made payable to a charity or community organisation).
